Welcome to our website. Our Post, CR16 was chartered on 4 December 1989. At the Post General Meeting, 13 April 2004, the members signed the application to form a non-profit Association as per the laws of Costa Rica.
Again, at the Post General Meeting, 11 May 2004, the members agreed to add to the Post Name that of Sergeant Raymond Edison Jones, Jr., who was recently killed in Iraq. This decision was deemed to be very appropriate because Sergeant Jones is of Costa Rican parentage. His mother still lives in Costa Rica.
Sergeant First Class Jones, from Gainesville, Florida believed in the military and "tried to do everything right," his father said. Army Sergeant First Class Raymond Edison Jones Jr., 31, was killed near Bayji, Iraq, on April 9, 2004, in a rocket-propelled grenade attack. He entered the Army in November 1991 and was assigned to the Army's 1st Battalion, 7th Field Artillery, 1st Infantry Division, in Schweinfurt, Germany.
Sergeant First Class Raymond Edison Jones Jr. was buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery. Sergeant First Class Jones is survived by three younger brothers: Michael E. Jones, an insurance investigator in Orlando, Florida; and Kurt Douglas Jones and Erick Roger Jones, who both live with their remarried mother, Olga Marta Chavez Smith, in Costa Rica. His widow, Katia, was born in Germany. He had a daughter from a previous marriage. His father, Raymond Edison Jones Sr, lives in Miami.
